The late John Burdon from Great Ayton riding the `72 Scottish on a slimline Bulto, I think.
The hard riding Jack Galloway who later moved to M/X, attacking the notorious Pipeline `72
Was this Bruce Forsythe`s first Scott Trial in `72? No, our very own Dave Willoughby who finished the day as Best Club Member.
Bill Filer competing at Woodhouse Farm, Great Ayton before the helmet law came in. Please note his strong wellies!
Paul Mason. Burdale Quarry, `77. A Guisborough lad. Good East Yorks competitor through the seventies and eighties, putting in some strong rides against tough opposition. Made a brief comeback this last year or two, but not seen him lately.
Not sure this qualifies for archives, but these lads would be riding in the early eighties. L to R Colin Chapman, Dave Pye, Chris Cunningham. Pye I believe has 11 East York trial titles to his name, but still doesn`t beat his Dad Bill with 19 at Grass track. Both Colin and Chris packed in for a number of years but have come back keen this last few years.
This lad must be one of the best known people in the E Y`s Centre. Barry Overy, totally committed to the trials game from early teens to the present day. Retired from riding in the `90`s but works his socks off on the organising and observing side.
Bill Filer, Chairman of Guisborough DMC competing at Harwood Dale. Retired from riding in the `90`s but still working hard gaing new land for the club and is also permit secretary.
David Metcalfe. Spot the resemblance to son Andy of Andy Metcalfe Motorcycles, Yearby. Dave bought his first bike, a cub, in `55 and competed at trials and scrambles until the early `80`s. Son Andy certainly inherited Dave`s love of motorcycles, proving pretty swift on the tarmac before coming into the trials game.
Ian `Boris` Atkinson from Carlton. Good, solid stylish rider in his day. Not riding now due to knee op, but will hopefully be out before long.
Eric Adcock. Dot works rider.
Gordon Farley. I believe he would follow on from the great Sammy Miller as British Champ. Correct me if I am wrong
The best there`s ever been J V Smith
World Champ in `75 on a Bulto, Martin Lampkin
Brian Johnson, now back riding, rode this little beast to a few wins back in the seventies. The Monocoque Bantam. Only five made I think.
That man again, Barry Overy, late seventies on a Montesa.
Prize pres. Going back a few years. Who are they?
George McGee and Dave Willoughby being friendly
Still a few of these lads about
Is this a young Dan Clark?
You need to be good to wear a hat like that.
Where is this lad now?
One of the Finniemores
Ralph Foulkes?
Brian Hall or Trevor Buckworth
Adam Norris?
A youthful Johnson on what, a Saracen??
The Stokesley Maestro, Brian Hutchinson. Anyone know the venue??
Brian Johnson at play
Any idea who this is??
A cracking photo of George McGee- with hair - showing the style similar to `Our Lee!` Mebbe not.
John Burdon and Gary Taylor in Villa days
Gary Taylor I think
Not exactly a line up of Olympians, but notables nevertheless, ? Sunley, Tony Frost, John Nelson, Alan Poole. I think
Guisborough`s Lee McGee showing early form, Birk Brow quarry.
Didn`t recognize this one first off, but it is Chris Banks sporting a caterpillar on his top lip.
George McGee and Dougie Hay from Guisborough posing as usual on their way to the Scottish. Not sure what year.
Pure class. My Gold Star cost £120. McGee`s cost him £45 and he`s still in front.
another sporting a `tache`. Must be a thing about the Glaisdale Two Day. Jeremy Saffin. Just returned to the trials scene.
Fancy going head to head with these three. Jack Galloway, Gary taylor and the incomparable Rod Harrison who still rides motocross today.
Can you tell me who this little feller is?
Guisborough DMC founder member Alan Fothergill after a days pillaging
Who is this showing off? Note the crowd!
No mistaking this one. Another founder member of Guisborough Club Alan Smith.
Bill Filer will know this one.
This is where `Sid Vicious` got his idea from.
Before elf and safety became an issue
Mike Emmerson and Hull club men with their backs to the wall. Is it Dave Summer, Charlie Watson and who else. You tell me.
Amazing what you see when you haven`t a gun. The late John Willoughby out for a stroll.
A young Mark Watson receiving award, early eighties maybe?
Leslie Stonehouse, Bette Atkinson (secretary for a great number of years) and could it be Sheila Filer?
Mr Encyclopedia of off-road motorcycle knowledge Pete Race informs me this definitely is Andy Watson, Honda mounted in the `86 Scottish and he finished in 71st place. Thanks Pete
Bill Gray a stalwart of Scarboro DMC for many years at Harwood Dale
If I remember right Bill Wilkinson would win the Scottish while still on L plates. Not sure what year
MRS man Malcolm Rathmell at Bridge End in the Scott
Another regular Scott and Scottish competitor the late Mick Ward
Works Triumph man for many years Ray Sayer
Middlesbrough legend Rob Edwards at Washfold. Does anyone recognise the smart spectator with his hand on his knee?
The great Sammy Miller at bridge End
Alan `Sid` Lampkin also at Bridge End
Many thanks to Pete Race for photos
